Every once in a while a project comes along that reminds you why you love this job.
This summer, the City of Carver reached out for new drone photos of their buildings, parks, and a few construction projects around town. It started as a simple ask. Get some updated aerial shots, cover the key locations, keep it clean and professional.
But once we got the drone in the air, I was reminded just how beautiful this city actually is.
Carver sits right on the edge of the Minnesota River, so the views are great whether you’re standing on the ground or looking down from a couple hundred feet up. The downtown area has real character, with plenty of good spots to grab lunch or a quick snack in between shoots. And every park we flew over was clean, well maintained, and clearly cared for.
I hear this all the time from people who live in a place for years: you stop noticing what’s right in front of you. That’s part of what I love about this kind of work. A drone doesn’t just take a picture. It gives you a new perspective on something you thought you already knew.
Here’s the truth about a project like this. It’s not about leads. It’s not about growth. It’s not about strategy or funnels or any of the stuff that usually drives the work we do. Sometimes a project is simply about capturing a place, and the people who care about it, and doing that well.
So I want to say thank you to the City of Carver for trusting us with your drone photo project. It was an honor to see your community from a whole new angle, and to help show it off the way it deserves.
